A story of the 1840s: the Library's book bin
Legend · Told story
Scholars of the 1840s hail a granite block inscribed "Dioskourides, 3 rolls", found in Alexandria, as a storage bin of the Library.
What the evidence supports: Only a small part of it is hollowed out; Bagnall shows it is almost certainly a statue base. No piece of the Library's furniture has been found.
